Local Walks
A number of walks may be accomplished directly from Rosebank House without the use of transport.
The back gate leads from the garden to a tennis court and picnic area
from which it is possible to explore the burns and glades and perhaps
walk a little further via forest tracks to the Kingshouse Hotel at Balquhidder.
From the front of the house it is a short walk to the National Cycle
Route 7 which runs all the way from Glasgow to Inverness. Some gentle but pleasant
strolls may be had south towards Callander with fine views over Loch Lubnaig or
north towards Balquhidder where Rob Roy's grave is located and where refreshments
may be obtained in the "library".
The ascent of nearby Ben an t-Sidhein (pronounced 'Ben Shean') is a short but fairly strenuous walk which is rewarded by excellent panoramic views.
A little further afield
For the more ambitious walker, within a few miles of Strathyre are a number of renowned Munros including Ben Vorlich, Stuc a Chroin, Ben Lomond and Ben More. There are also many Corbetts, Donalds and Grahams in the surrounding area including Ben An, Ben Ledi and Ben Venue. Winter walking offers its own special delights with magnificent vistas of snow-capped peaks to be feasted upon!
